Mark has over 42 years in the energy industry, including 37 years with Exxon and ExxonMobil and the last 5 years as an independent engineer/consultant. Mark has wide-ranging experience in engineering, risk management, process improvement, project management, refining and pipeline operations, economic analysis, operations management systems, regulatory compliance, integrity management, and emergency response. Mark is a certified in advanced Incident Command and Complex Incidents. In 2013, Mark served as Incident Commander for ExxonMobil during the Mayflower, Arkansas oil spill response.
Mark is active in the liquid and gas pipeline industry. He currently serves on the American Petroleum Institute’s (API) – Association of Oil Pipeline’s (AOPL) Performance Excellence Team. He has also served on the API Data Mining Team and the API committee that developed and published Recommended Practice RP 1173 – Pipeline Safety Management Systems. In 2015 and 2016, Mark was Chairman of the API/AOPL Strategic Planning Committee which produced the pipeline industry’s annual strategic plans. Mark has been both a moderator and a speaker at the annual API Pipeline Conference and a guest speaker at the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA) Foundation’s Construction Management Roundtable and Pipeline Safety Management System Workshop.
